Yugo: the non-game is a virtual space where you can drive a car, listen to the radio, and invite people to talk and share the experience with.
It's a space that allows long conversations and hangouts that are often harder to come by when communicating digitally.
It's a non-gamification of common voice chat sessions between people playing a game. It is a game for non-gamers.

When a player starts a session, they are the car driver, and each person that joins is seated in one of the other three passenger seats.
Players are automatically connected via voice chat.
The radios stations are real-life internet radio streams and several of them are available in the game world.

The environment, while it is abstracted and contextless, still contains elements of a certain time and region. The serpentine roads in the game are inspired by the mountainous roads going from Kosovo to Montenegro. The car is modeled after Yugo, an iconic car produced in Yugoslavia in the 1980s’. The time of the day is reminiscent of dusks in Kosovo, mostly because of the omnipresence of crows and the sounds they make at evening flying back to their nests for the night. Similarly reminiscent of that region are also the monolithic-like objects on top of hills, inspired by Socialist-era Yugoslavian monuments in Kosovo and the rest ex-Yugoslavia. Aside from the significance they have for the area and people there, they have a striking visual appearance that blur the time and place perceptions.

That is one fancy Yugo because the one I drove back in college didn't have a radio or air conditioning!

Super nice, but is missing a Yugo pop radio station. Could listen to some Denis & Denis while driving. :D
A buddy and I tested your software, I don't say game on purpose, and were surprised beyond all expectations. We drove around, had a chat, everything worked from a standing start and the music was good. 10 out of 10. Great piece of software for people without Teamspeak, Discord, Mumble, etc. who just want to have a nice chat. Thanks for the experience!

Is it possible to add online radios to the game? It will be nice, if it is possible to just put a link to a favorite radio and listen to it in-game.
i love this game, the only thing I would like are some radios from fallout (i.e the galaxy news radio or radio new vegas)

will there be an android version
It works well, but I do want to say the linux version works except for one issue wherein the mouse cursor is not taken control of, therefore your camera movement is deeply limited
This is really cool, the radio mechanic is really immersive. I see some comments looking for more music control and I think it would be awesome if you could load album links into your car's "collection" before driving and then it would be as if you had hard copies of music in the car that you had to plan to take with you. (I'm aware this is not being developed) All in all a good execution of this concept, sets a great mood.

i just tried this game and i played it while high af but man is it a really chill game
Really chill even in single player, and I love the way the graphics have a sort of dithering "noise" to them. The self driving mode is a little bit... well, let's just say I'm glad there aren't other cars on the road. The radio stations that I could play are all nice, though, and whatever you pick it sounds great! I hope I get a chance to try it out with friends soon!

Hey dude! Just wanted to share my story in an awesome experience that you created.
So I’m originally from Turkey but I live in Helsinki for 2 years now. Had to leave behind my home town, family, friends but most importantly my best friend Ege. Whom we used to go on road trips together and talk shit for hours. Its an experience I never thought that could be stimulated through digital means!
But today while we were having a voice chat on Discord, we just found your game and gave it a shot. And your craft gave me that same feeling of driving into nothingness with him! We spent three hours listening to some tunes and just driving together. No other distractions, just a bonding experience.
Huge props man, and thank you for this. I will donate, whenever I can in hopes of supporting you and your work. Please consider taking this to somewhere like A.MAZE festival next year if you havent already, I think way more appreciation and support.

its a great game but could you ad like a public room feature with like charachter models and like a van for more people and maybye make a discord for people to find other people to play with
i must say the atmostsphere choice is pleasant. a purple sunset (sunrise?) feels more relaxes than an orange one.

So its a social interactive game based on talking to random people without the option to randomly join people? Why would you take the time to create this game and then destroy its premise by making lobbies locked behind a password!?
because... discord can do all of that for you... it's only meant to be a interactive medium... otherwise, there will be all sorts of illicit and harmful potential people who can join
